The chosen image is then free-hand drawn onto a piece of card
The next stage see's the insert coming to life. On a thick piece of card (thin enough for a Stanley blade and craft knife to pass through without tearing or without great difficulty) the desired image is sketched onto the card and touched up various times until the drawing is either virtually identical to the comparison photo or until other aspects have been added in (as requested by the client) e.g. our Owl insert; the client requested a mustache to be added to the Owl meaning there were two different comparison images.
To put it simply, this stage is simple drawing the chosen image/s onto a piece of card until perfect. The client will then be sent a picture via email to confirm they are happy with the progress of the insert.

An image is chosen for the desired frame insert
The Process we use
Below is the process we use, it begins with the conception of the product to drawing it, cutting it out of a professional grade card and filling the frame insert with personal pictures either sent by the client or photos which are emailed to us and then
printed at professional photo printing shops.
The very first step of the process is choosing a design for your frame insert. We work very closely with the client in helping choose, if there are any potential problems that could possible arise they are brought up with the client at this conception stage so they can be dealt with quickly and efficiently. The easiest and quickest designs are cartoon based images as real-life pictures are usually more detailed and take longer to capture the realness of the image. Although we are skilled in drawing we aren’t artists and therefore ask of you to be patient and understanding with us.
We do however work quickly, efficiently and thoroughly too complete the best possible standard of frame inserts.

The drawing is then cut out of the card.
Our tools of choice are craft knifes and retractable Stanley blades. Using these tools we begin to slowly and precisely cut out the drawing on a cutting board. After speaking with the client it is chosen which process to take, the first process entails us drawing the image with two lines rather than one so when cut out the space between the two lines remains and forms a sort of frame. The other process (our most commonly used process) is to simply draw one line and ensure we cut 50mm (appx) around the drawn lines and narrow and widen the frame at certain points.
Essentially this stage is cutting out the image insuring lines are left to form frames within the frame insert in which photos can be inserted into.

The insert is then filled with personal pictures and placed into a frame
This is the final and trickiest stage. In this stage the photos (either sent by the client or printed out by myself at a professional photo printing shop) are all arranged and placed in the frame insert in such a way that all the photos are represented in the best way possible and look the best e.g. so that no one’s faces are covered yet their bodies are shown. This is the most pain staking process but is vital in making the finished product look the best it possibly can.
A mock up is sent to the client to confirm they are happy with the placement of the photos (unless we are specifically told where to place the photos) the insert is then placed in the chosen frame and sent to the client.
-
There is an increased price if the frame and insert are posted to the client. If the client chooses to pick the frame up in person this extra charge will obviously not be applied.
-
We do ask for a £20 deposit once the desired frame insert has been selected. The deposit can then either be returned or knocked off the total cost of the frame insert.
-
The cost of the frame insert is subject to change. We do however give our word that no charges or expenses will be sprung upon our customers without prior notice and we do work very closely with the client to ensure there are no surprise fees.
-
By rule of thumb it generally take up to 7 days to complete a frame however in rare circumstance it may be more depending on the intricacy of the chosen design. It can take several days once dispatched to be received by the client.
-
We ask for your patience, we try our best to provide the best possible customer service and will do our best to cater for you needs no matter how strange or simple they may be.
-
We use 2 pieces of a -----gsm thickness of card (one for the frame insert and one as a backing for the insert in which the photos will be glued too). Other thickness may be requested however we do find that using this thickness of card does produce the best final product.
-
We purchase all frames new and various sizes are available, we can buy in almost any colour you wish or can undercoat and gloss a frame the desired colours. The largest of our frames is provided by Frosts in Mere Green, although they may be quite costly they are the largest available, the best looking, and the safest frames we know. You are welcome to provide your own frame which will reduce the overall cost of the project.
-
All our prices in the 'Prices' page are estimates (we cannot cost something we cannot physically see) and therefor some may seem steep but please don’t hesitate to contact us, we are very flexible and can usually arrange something to suit all needs.
-
Finally, we ask for your patience. We give our word that we will provide you with the best possible standard we can making these bespoke inserts all we ask in return is that you are patient with us.
-
We work very closely with out cliental every step of the way, we will send emails at all important points of the process to make sure you are happy with the standard of the insert and will keep you informed every step of the way.
